I hope everybody is enjoying the 4th of July weekend. We had a ton of rain, spent the afternoon catching tadpoles and then went into town for an expensive dinner out - our celebration for the 4th.
More importantly, France was in the quarter final against Germany in the World Cup. We can't figure out our TV, so we have to watch it online or via updates on apps. It seems nobody else can figure out their TVs either.
For a sunny Friday evening, Pau was zombie apocalypse quiet. Few cars, few pedestrians. As if all of France was holding it's breath. Because it was. Like this... in public on every narrow street and weird 3 or 5 corner intersection:
I confirmed with our waiter how to say "Germany" in French.
Nothing says "Happy 4th of July" like an expertly deployed Frenglish, "BOO ALLEMAGNE!"
